Joseph Suder
Joseph Suder was born on 12 December 1892 in Mainz (Germany). He received early piano and cello lessons and later studied at the Munich Academy of Music under Friedrich Klose (composition), Karl Roesger (piano) and Heinrich Kiefer (cello) as well as musicology at the university under Adolf Sandberger.
After his studies Joseph Suder built his living on diverse musical activities. He worked as a piano accompanist and conductor, he also composed his first works that received some recognition. Over the years an opera, a chamber symphony, piano concerto, some orchestral music, 3 string quartets, 2 violin sonatas, a piano quartet, a piano sonata, further chamber music, a large mass, songs and choral music followed.
But his main acticity became teaching at different schools and adult education centers in Munich. In 1952 Joseph Suder founded an orchestra and choir at the Oskar-von-Miller-Polytechnikum, a school of engeneering that later emerged into the Technical University.
Joseph Suder died on 13 September 1980 in Munich (Germany).
In my possession are three autograph manuscripts of songs by Joseph Suder. The songs are all scored for voice and piano. The titles are "All-Zeit", "Zeitlos" and "Urlicht" and all three works were published by Strube in 1994. In addition I also own a copy of the handwritten manuscript of "Jubel", also for voice and piano and also published by Strube.
