Ernst Huber

Ernst Huber was born on 23 December 1908 in Austria. After his schooldays he attended the Bischöfliche Lehrerbildungsanstalt in Linz and studied music under Franz Xaver Müller. In 1928 Ernst Huber began to work as a teacher. In 1934 he moved to Grieskirchen and stayed there the rest of his life. In the following decades Ernst Huber became an important part of the musical life of Grieskirchen, and the region of Upper Austria. In 1939 Ernst Huber founded the music school in Grieskirchen and became kapellmeister of the local orchestra (Stadtkapelle). After fulfilling his military duties in World War II Ernst Huber returned to Grieskirchen and was appointed director of the music school. He remained in this position until his retirement in 1974. He also conducted the local church choir from 1947 to 1957 and in addition founded a secular choir (Singkreis) in 1953. And Ernst Huber helped to rebuild a local orchestra after World War II and became its kapellmeister again from 1964 to 1970.
Beside his local activities Ernst Huber was also active as an official in the foundation of the association of the Upper Austrian Volksschulen (Oberösterreichisches Volksbildungswerk) at Tollet Castle in 1947 and of the association of the Upper Austrian music schools (Oberösterreichisches Musikschulwerk) in 1952. He was appointed speaker and in 1973 director of the Upper Austrian music school association.
In addition Ernst Huber was a member of the Innviertler Künstlergilde, and composed several works that he performed with his orchestra or choir.
Ernst Huber died on 11 November 1985 in Austria.

In my possession is the autograph manuscript of the "Symphonietta No.1 in G-Dur" by Ernst Huber. The work is scored for orchestra and unfortunately not dated.
