Karel Moor: String quartet

Karel Moor: String quartet No.1

This site presents my effect on the world premiere recording of the "String quartet No.1" (1902) by Karel Moor (1873-1945)

In 2018 I acquired the autograph manuscripts of the parts of the String quartet No.1 by Karel Moor. The work was composed in 1902 during a long visit of Karel Moor in Trieste. The work was not published and so I prepared a full score of the work and published it through my website. Only a few months later I was contacted by Massimo Favento.

The Triestino cellist Massimo Favento started a huge research on Karel Moor and especially his time in Trieste in the late 2010s. This resulted in a symposium with concerts and a large printed publication of papers of musicologists from different countries in 2019. During his research Massimo Favento stumbled upon my website and the publication of the String quartet No.1 by Karel Moor. He informed me that three autograph scores of this work exist: One in Trieste, one in Prague and the one in my possession and that they are not completely identical. So Massimo Favento created a score from all three sources and performed the String quartet No.1 in early August 2020 together with Leonardo Giovine (violin), Marco Favento (violin) and David Briatore (viola). The performance was recorded and published as a 2-CD-set with other chamber music by Karel Moor through Sonora (LH 114-115).
