Basil Maine estate

This site presents a publication dealing with the choral symphony "Morning Heroes" by Arthur Bliss.

In January 2025 I bought a part of the musical estate of music critic and composer Basil Maine (1894-1972). Part of the estate were two handwritten slips of paper that caught my attention because they did not deal with any composition by Basil Maine but the "Morning Heroes" symphony by Arthur Bliss. The notes on the papers treated of the structure of the symphony and to my surprise did not match with the final version. I therefore contacted the Arthur Bliss Society and asked for some help about the authorship of the notes and the historical value of the content. This finally ended in an article which I wrote for the Arthur Bliss Society Journal that was published in the issue of summer 2025. I would like to present it here that non-members of the Bliss Society can read it as well:
