Cecil Harrington

Cecil Harrington was born sometime around 1900 in England. I found no information about his musical education, but his name appears the first time in newspapers in 1919 conducting an orchestra. In 1920 at the latest he started a career as a piano entertainer. Over 40 years he was a regular guest on English stages: performing on the piano, singing songs and making humorous acts. His abilities were filmed in 1936 by British Pathe and the video can be found on their online archive.

His musical activties are documented in newspaper until 1961. I have no information about his life after that year.

Cecil Harrington composed many songs which he performed during his shows. Several of them were published, mainly in the 1930s.

In my possession is the autograph manuscript of the song "Here, in our room" for voice and piano by Cecil Harrington. The work was composed in June 1945 according to the manuscript. Both text and music were written by Cecil Harrington. On the title page of the manuscript is a personal inscription by Cecil Harrington that says: "Dedicated to my beloved "Rankie"[?] / written during one of these long long days of waiting / with all my heart and soul / Cecil / June 1945 / Your very own copy, darling"
